GVFB process changes in response to COVID-19
To help slow the transmission of COVID-19, Gallatin Valley Food Bank will be taking the following precautionary measures. Gallatin Valley Food Bank will be altering the service delivery model to increase social distancing for the health and safety of customers, volunteers, and staff.
Starting, Monday, March 16th our lobby, Bread Room, and personal care area will be closed to the public. Pre-packed food boxes will be distributed from 1 pm-4 pm.
Beginning on Tuesday, March 17th a drive-through will be implemented to pick up pre-packed food boxes.
If you are in need of food please visit us between 1 pm and 4 pm Monday – Friday. Be prepared to stay in your vehicle and travel through our parking lot. Check-in will be a part of the drive-through service. As this process should be quick, if there is a line please do not block traffic. We would ask you to return at a slightly later time. At this time we will not be able to make substitutions but please know we have plenty of food. If you pick up your senior groceries at the food bank, we will distribute these groceries with the drive-through model during the same hours.
For now, our Belgrade distribution will continue but operate out of our truck, with pre-packed food boxes.
If you are a volunteer we will have workgroups to prepare food boxes. We will practice social distancing, hand washing and everyone will be asked to wear gloves. Please visit our website and sign up on our volunteer portal (Galaxy) for our extra shifts. Please only volunteer if you are healthy. If you have a compromised immune system please stay home.
If you are a donor, yes we need help. The easiest way to help now is to donate online.
These precautions will be in place until the leadership of our organization, informed by experts, feel it is prudent to resume normal programming. Further information will be provided via our Facebook and website as our community navigates this situation together. Thank you for your ongoing support.
